SAKTIGARH GOVERNMENT SPONSORED PTTI, UNIT – II (FOR WOMEN ONLY), SINCE 1958

The institution adopts a holistic and student-centred approach to teacher education through the systematic organisation of academic, co-curricular, and creative activities throughout the academic year. These include orientation programmes, practice teaching, games and sports, observation of important days (including the birth anniversaries of eminent personalities), and creative engagements such as art, music, drama, and other performing arts.

These activities not only promote active student participation but also emphasize the integration of creativity and innovation in teaching-learning practices, thereby enhancing the professional competencies of trainee teachers.

During the teaching practice phase, focused efforts are made to improve pedagogical effectiveness by incorporating creative and experiential learning strategies. These strategies aim to engage learners actively in the classroom, promote joyful learning, and make teaching more meaningful and learner-centric.

With the assumption of academic and administrative responsibilities by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), West Bengal, the institution has witnessed substantial improvements in both academic quality and infrastructural development. The appointment of qualified faculty members has strengthened instructional delivery, while upgraded facilities such as science laboratories, computer laboratories, psychology laboratories, and library resources have facilitated a shift towards scientific, activity-based, and technology-enabled learning.

As a result, trainee teachers gain enriched exposure during their school internship and practice teaching in primary schools. They effectively apply the skills, methodologies, and values acquired through institutional activities, thereby fostering innovative classroom practices and opening new dimensions in the teaching-learning process.

Innovative Teaching Practices Adopted

The following best practices are emphasized during teaching practice and school internship programmes:

1. Use of well-designed and meaningful Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) in Bengali and English language teaching.
2. Integration of drama and role-play for stimulus variation and enhanced learner engagement.
3. Application of music and rhythmic activities to develop emotional and cognitive responsiveness among learners.
4. Utilisation of art-integrated charts and models to facilitate conceptual clarity across textbook topics.
5. Promotion of nature observation and simple scientific experiments to encourage curiosity, experiential learning, and sensory development.

Subjects such as Bengali, English, Science, and Geography are taught using learner-centric strategies, supported by charts, models, dramatization, and experiential activities to enhance motivation and comprehension.

By sustaining these best practices, the institution ensures quality learning outcomes among students while simultaneously preparing competent, reflective, and professionally committed teachers, in alignment with NAAC quality benchmarks and SCERT academic objectives.
